Balance Board – Adjustable Difficulty, 1800mm – BADGER
R1,460.00
Most balance boards are a stubby little deck on a roller, which teaches you to balance on a stubby little deck. Badger is a full 1800mm of board, so your feet learn the stance you actually surf in.
A balance board should train the stance you actually use, which is where most of them fall short. Badger is cut to a full 1800mm board outline from 18mm pine plywood, so instead of shuffling on a stubby deck you stand where you’d really stand — feet over the stringer, weight through the arches, the whole length of the board responding underneath you.
Change the difficulty in about ten seconds
The two half-circle rockers pull straight out of their slots and drop back in a different orientation. Turn them one way and you get a gentle, forgiving wobble that a beginner can find their feet on. Turn them the other and the contact patch shrinks to something that will humble a confident adult inside four seconds. No tools, no bolts, no buying a second board when someone improves — you just pull, rotate and reslot. It means one board genuinely works for a nervous first-timer and a surfer doing off-season training. It is CNC-cut from 18mm pine plywood and finished with Woodoc Interior, so the surface is sealed against sweat and damp feet without going slippery-glossy underfoot.

Good to know
Use it on carpet, a rug or a mat rather than a polished floor — the rockers want a bit of grip, and tiles turn the whole thing into a slip hazard. Barefoot gives you the best feel and the most grip on the sealed surface; socks are asking for trouble. Start every new rider on the easiest rocker setting and give them clear space on all sides, because the first few attempts end with a step off rather than a graceful dismount. Kids take to it fast, but it is a training tool rather than a toy, so it deserves the same supervision you’d give a skateboard.
Off-season surf training, rugby pre-season, physio balance work or just something that makes the lounge more interesting. See the rest of our surfboard and ocean board range.
